      Disposition:
DILIGENT: Despite our initial introduction to Sanemi being that he's angry, angry, and more angry (which is true) he's actually a surprisingly serious and diligent guy. Before his whole family (most of it anyway) was killed, he was the eldest son tasked with taking care of a mother and six younger siblings when his shitty father got knifed. He ends up killing their mother, who had become a demon trying to eat her children, to protect Genya. After their separation, he begins working for the demon corps not only out of hatred for demons, because he wants to keep his little brother safe, even if they can't be together. Dutiful and a hard worker, he's absolutely the type to carry groceries for little old ladies and bandage kids up when they're hurt. Even when he dies and meets his mother in limbo, he's willing to give up his chance to go to heaven and intends to carry her on his back to hell so she won't have to be alone. He's fully willing to put his own needs aside for others. It's just how he works.

PASSIONATE & EMOTIONAL: Sanemi ... has a lot of feelings. A lot lot of feelings, which he just vibrates in with his whole being. Whenever he puts himself to something, he won't accept less than one hundred percent—he's the perfect poster boy for Nike's Just Do It campaign. What he believes in he throws his entire body weight behind; half-assing anything just isn't in his nature. It's why he always ends up being the one to challenge whoever comes across the pillars.

Being so impulsive and emotional makes him come off as really intense, which ... yeah, he is. He a crier, shedding tears several times throughout the series. He cares deeply about the friends and family he's lost, and pushes his little brother away for the sake of keeping him safe, willing to go so far as ruining their relationship to do it. He reacts violently to perceived slights and when he thinks he's being made fun of for loving ohagi. He has drive, and while his attitude leaves much to be desired, when he goes to bat for you? He hits it out of the park.

ABRASIVE: Oh my god, is this man abrasive when the mood strikes. Of all the pillars, he's the first and most likely to challenge someone—and the first and most likely to talk shit (note: not the only one, but Sanemi's fuse is undoubtedly the shortest). Aggressive and hot-blooded, he's the one who butts heads with Tanjiro during his first official meeting with Ubuyashiki, and also Rengoku from what we see in Rengoku Gaiden. He clashes with fellow pillar Giyu Tomioka constantly, because they're basically the antithesis of one another. That being said, Sanemi isn't disliked among his peers. He isn't abrasive all the time; he's kind to women, elderly people, and children, and seems to get along with most of his fellow pillars once the dust's settled. The man's just ... real impulsive and quick to react. Sometimes it's comedic, where it sets him up as the straightman, and sometimes it's more serious (as is the case with Tanjiro defending Nezuko). If you want a guy who'll give you some good reactions? Hello, you have found him.

STUBBORN: Sanemi is as stubborn as a screaming shiba inu. He's very set when it comes to his beliefs, morals, and judgements—and it takes a whole hell of a lot to get him to change his mind. Hell, part of the reason he reveres Ubuyashiki so much is because the man really proved him wrong: Sanemi believed that he was sitting in his lofty cozy home doing nothing while people died out there, but Ubuyashiki (who could not fight, due to a sickly and poor constitution) had gone so far as to memorize the name of every single person that died for their cause ... and visit their graves. Something even Sanemi, who had lost several comrades in arms, couldn't do. It pulls the rug from under his feet and his whole attitude changes ... so he's not impossible to sway, but it's not easy. Basically: if you can put your money where your mouth is, Sanemi will respect you, and maybe even change his mind!

      Under pressure:
So, despite the fact that I've repeated throughout this whole application that he's angry and abrasive, Sanemi's actually pretty good under stress. Even though he's hotblooded and impulsive, he isn't stupid, and we've seen him stop himself on a drop of a dime before. Once he figures out that these aren't demons and they aren't eating people he'll tone down on the intensity a bit. He won't be happy, because they were in the middle of something important back home, so he's going to make it his business to go back ... which means he's going to be open to working with others and doing what's necessary in order to do that. He knows how to prioritize, and if he can find some people to click with then that's all the better. And once he decides he's going to do something, he does it. He's going to hold all of your hands if that's what it takes to get back home to finish his job.

      Condition upon arrival:
Physically, Sanemi will arrive in excellent health. Chapter 136 is just before the final battle, so he will be in peak form, just coming off an arc of training and no big battles to recover from. Mentally, however, he's going to be fucked up, thinking he's landed in some demon's domain ... so it might be for the best that the processing team sedate him before explaining where he is. After that, he won't be quite as feral, but he will still be aggressive and unpleasant all around. Unless the processors are innocent women or elderly people—he's kinder to those, but he's still going to be unhappy about all of this. They were on the cusp of something important back where he's from, and people are in danger.

      Abilities:
Swordsmanship, Wind Breathing: As a pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Sanemi is one of the most powerful and skilled swordsmen in the entire organization. In Kimetsu no Yaiba, they fight utilizing breaths—a style that makes use of specific and concentrated breath patterns to increase the user's lung capacity and amount of oxygen in the blood. This increase of oxygen allows the user to enhance their physical abilities and mental concentration, enabling them to fight on par with demons, whose physical prowess surpasses that of the average human. Wind Breathing is comprised of sword techniques that utilize the air around them to generate powerful whirlwind and tornado attacks that can be used for both offense and defense, and Sanemi's a master of it. There are nine forms for his style.

Weapon Flexibility: Sanemi isn't limited to the use of his blade—he spent a number of years killing demons when he was young by creating traps and stringing them up with chains until the sun rose. Yep, he's that feral. He's also used his brother's gun before, as well as incorporated oil and fire into a battle when given the chance. Hell, he's more than happy to try and fight it out via fists with fellow pillar Giyu Tomioka when, during their training session, their wooden swords break.

Physical Prowess: Thanks to years of harsh training combined with the use of the total concentration: constant, the state of keeping up those earlier mentioned breathing patterns all the time, Sanemi is strong as hell. Incredible speed, physical strength, flexibility, endurance, alertness ... he's got a nasty mouth and abrasive attitude, but he can back it all up. He's so tough that, at the end of canon when he's close to dying, his ghost-figment father yeets him back to life because he's still got some juice left in him. His first word when he wakes up, in a full body cast is just "fuck."

Intoxicant Blood (marechi): Sanemi's blood is the rarest type, making it incredibly intoxicating and mouthwatering to demons. Basically, it's catnip to them—and can also make them intoxicated and slow, thus dulling their movements.

Muscle Control: Sanemi's able to manipulate his muscles to tighten up and prevent mortal wounds during battle. Of course, this also means that he can make them tiddies dance. You're welcome.
